Terms of Service
Effective date: July 4, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and WeEven (“WeEven”, “we”, “us”) governing your use of the WeEven app and website (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them.
1. What WeEven is (and isn't)
WeEven helps households record shared expenses, calculate balances, mark settlements, and share lists, chores, bills and goals.
WeEven is a record-keeping tool, not a financial service. We do not hold, transfer, or process money. “Settling up” in the app records that a payment happened between you and another person — the actual payment happens outside WeEven, by whatever method you choose. We are not a party to any payment or debt between household members, and balances shown in the app are calculations from what you and your household entered, not legal determinations of what anyone owes.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to use WeEven — or older where your local law requires it (for example, in India you must be 18, or use WeEven with a parent or guardian's consent).
- You sign in with a one-time email code, Apple, or Google. Keep access to your email and sign-in providers secure — anyone who controls them can access your account.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter.
3. Households and shared content
- Content you add to a household (expenses, amounts, list items, receipt photos, your display name) is visible to that household's members. Add people you trust.
- When you leave or delete your account, shared records remain for other members (with your name anonymized) so their history still adds up — see the Privacy Policy.
- You keep ownership of your content. You give us the limited license needed to store it and show it to your household — that's all we use it for.
4. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the Service. In particular, don't: break the law; upload content that is illegal or infringes others' rights; attempt to access other households' data; probe, overload, or disrupt the Service; or reverse-engineer it except where the law permits.
5. Beta software and availability
WeEven is under active development (currently in beta). We work hard to keep it reliable, but the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may suspend or discontinue the Service.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WeEven will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service — including disputes between household members about expenses or payments. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to CAD $50 or the amount you paid us in the last 12 months, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
7. Consumer rights that these terms don't touch
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies rights or remedies that the law doesn't allow us to exclude, and nothing limits our liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence. In particular:
- Australia: our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled to cancel your contract with us and to a refund of any unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value; you are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
- New Zealand: if you use WeEven for personal use, nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
- United Kingdom: nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
- Canada / United States / India: where consumer-protection law grants you non-waivable rights, those rights prevail over anything inconsistent in these terms.
8. Termination
You can stop using WeEven and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete account). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or create risk for the Service or other users.
9. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms materially, we'll update this page and the effective date, and notify you in the app for significant changes. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the new terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ontario — except that if you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose law requires disputes to be heard in your local courts or under your local law (which may include the UK, Australia, New Zealand, India, and some US states and Canadian provinces), you keep that right and nothing here takes it away.
